THE MISSION PROJECT (Notes-Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007) Do we want to be a maintenance church or a mission church? Maintenance: ? Worshipping ? Caring for parishioners Mission: ? Outreach ? Involving children, teaching giving ? Evangelism (?) After some discussion, those in attendance reached consensus that we do want to be a mission church. What are some of the needs to be met? (partial list) ? Homelessness ? Water in Africa ? Christian / Muslim relations ? Tutoring for underachieving children Criteria for projects ? Involvement accessible to all members, all age groups ? Differing levels of involvement (financial support, hands on work, etc.) ? Must fulfill real need ? Address short term (Immediate help) and long term needs (sustainable skills) ? Must leverage our resources ? Faith based through our actions Resources ? Volunteers ? Parsonage ? Partnerships with others / Salem Lutheran ? Thrivent ?
