Parsonage - List of possible uses

Below is a list of potential uses for the former parsonage property.  We can discuss at the next meeting to be held on Sunday November 18 from 11:00pm - 12:30pm.

The list is not exhaustive (the possibilities may be infinite) but was meant to capture what I have heard or read over the past while.  The list is in no particular order.  In my opinion, if we decide to put the property to use, we should try to narrow the use to youth-mission purpose(s) because that is what the congregation has embraced.

Thanks,

Ross

Potential Uses of 2012 Lake of the Isles Parkway:

1.  Demolish the building and retain the land as a park (playground, patio, place of meditation) for future development or sale.

2.  Renovate and rent long-term (cash flow to support Church operations) or rent short-term (then use as a future parsonage, staff housing or some other purpose).

3.  Renovate for residential occupancy and provide use of the property to the homeless, immigrants, students, or other people in transitional need.

4.  Renovate for commercial use in support of a mission project.

5.  Sell it and use proceeds to pay-off mortgage and fund Church building repairs and renovations.

6.  Sell it and use proceeds to purchase another property in support of a mission project.

7.  Make necessary, immediate repairs, leave vacant, sell it when real estate market recovers, then consider options 5 or 6.

8.  Make necessary, immediate repairs, leave vacant, and renovate later once we resolve how to utilize the property (options 2, 3 or 4).

9.  Gift the property, as is, to an organization that will use the property for a purpose consistent with our mission goals.

Potential Specific Uses of the Property
(could be one use or a combination of multiple uses):

a)  Future expansion of Church building or Church programs (class rooms, meeting rooms, retreats, counseling, music classes/rehearsals, wedding center, receptions, parties).

b)  Youth programs facility, tutoring, youth camps/retreats, Bible school.

c)  Child care, pre-school.

d)  Convert building (or sell and acquire a replacement property) for use by NIP, Joyce Foodshelf, Our Savior's Shelter, a youth organization, etc.

e)  Multi-faith place for education, study, worship.

f)  Shelter for abused women and children.
